Head coach

Coach Brent Mason

BJJ 3rd-degree black belt Former pro MMA fighter American Killer Bees

Brent Mason is the head coach of Elite Combat Academy and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Master Israel Gomes, co-founder of the American Killer Bees association. That lineage runs from Gomes to Carlos Lima, and from Lima to Carlson Gracie.

Before he coached fighters, he was one. Coach Mason competed as a professional MMA welterweight out of Shreveport from 2008 to 2011, finishing his last fight with a rear-naked choke. Today he is in the corner instead, coaching his fighters on regional MMA and kickboxing cards, most recently Real Deal Championship 28 at the Bossier City Civic Center.

Your first class

Day one is the hardest. We make it easy.

  1. Reach out

Call or text and tell us what you want to train. We will point you to the right class.

  2. Show up ready

  3. Train

Everyone in the room started at day one. Coaches will pair you up and walk you through the technique.

Questions

Before you step on the mat

Still wondering? Call or text (318) 464-2361.

Do I need experience or to be in shape to start?

No. Every fighter in the room started on day one. You get in shape by training; you don't have to be in shape to begin. Call or message first and we'll point you to the right class.

Who coaches the classes?

Head coach Brent Mason, a 3rd-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and former professional MMA fighter, runs the MMA, jiu-jitsu, striking and wrestling classes. Strength and conditioning is coached by Victoria "Fury" Leonardo Mason, a former UFC flyweight who fought out of this gym.

Do I need a gi?

No. Every jiu-jitsu class here is No-Gi, trained in a rash guard and shorts. It is faster than gi grappling and closer to how grappling works in MMA. Killer Bee No-Gi runs on Tuesday nights and Afternoon BJJ at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Do you have daytime classes?

Yes. Morning MMA runs from 10 AM to noon and Afternoon BJJ from noon to 1 PM every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, plus an open mat Saturday from 10 AM to noon.

What should I bring to my first class?

Athletic clothes you can move in and a water bottle. For grappling classes, a rash guard and shorts without pockets or zippers work best. Ask us about gloves, shin guards and a mouthguard before your first striking or sparring class.

Do I have to fight or compete?

Competing is a choice. Coach Mason corners fighters who want to compete on regional MMA and kickboxing cards, and the same classes work just as well for fitness, confidence and self-defense.

How much does it cost?

Call (318) 464-2361 or send a message for current membership options. We'll match it to how often you want to train.

Where are you located?
